Warm ½ cup water, add dry yeast and sugar, stir, and let sit until frothy.
Mix flour, salt, olive oil, and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic.
Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Punch down dough, divide, and roll into a round shape with thicker edges.
Preheat oven to 220-250°C. Optionally pre-bake the base for thick crust.
Spread sauce, add cheese, and toppings. Sprinkle herbs and chili flakes.
Bake until crust is golden and cheese is melted. Slice and serve hot.
