Dhanteras literally means dhan+ teras (wealth and 13th day).   

According to the Hindu calendar, the Karva Chauth Tithi is observed during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the month of Kartik.   

On the day of Dussehra, the final episode of the epic is enacted in which Lord Rama kills Ravana.

Unlike Kalratri, who is ferocious, Maha Gauri is calm and compassionate.

During Navratri, each form of Maa Durga is worshipped. Devi Kalratri is believed to be the fiercest form of Durga.

During these 9 days, Maa Durga is worshipped in different avatars. 

Chandraghanta, the manifestation of Goddess Durga, also known as Chandrakhanda, Chandika or Rannchandi is worshipped by the devotees on the third day of Navratri. It is believed that the sound of her bell terrorises the demonic incarnations and evil forces.

At all Shaktipeethas, Goddess Shakti is accompanied by Lord Bhairava (a manifestation of Lord Shiva).

Seated on a tiger, Goddess Chandraghanta is depicted with Dashabhuja or ten hands.
