It has been eight years since the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case took place.
On the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012, Nirbhaya was raped and brutally assaulted in a moving bus in south Delhi by six people.

On Thursday, a trial court issued fresh warrants with March 20, 5:30 am, as the date for the execution of the convicts Mukesh Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar Singh (31).

Actor Mukesh Khanna said, "I saw Nirbhaya's message to the nation and I salute her courage. Her courage is a model for the country. The way she has stood for this and fought will also help the other daughters of the country. It's sad that in our country, the victim and victim's family have to go through all this."

The first date of execution, January 22, was postponed to February 1 by a January 17 court order.
