In the recently concluded ICC Under 19 World Cup, Bangladesh took the honours winning their first title defeating four-time champions India at JB Marks Oval in South Africa's Potchefstroom and now their captain Akbar Ali has been named the skipper of the Cricket World Cup Team of the Tournament announced on Monday.

It was not only difficult on the pitch for Bangladesh`s U-19 World Cup-winning captain Akbar Ali when he came out to bat against India in the final in Potchefstroom. Off the field too, the 18-year-old was battling mental trauma after losing his elder sister days back.

Bangladesh first their first ICC Under 19 World Cup defeating India by three wickets at Potchefstroom in South Africa on Sunday (February 9, 2020) and their players celebrated wildly. Some of the Bangladesh Under 19 cricketers were also seen aggressively gesticulating at the dejected Indian players slumped on the ground after the loss.

Bangladesh are placed along with Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Scotland in Group C of the U-19 World Cup.

After a dismal batting performance saw them get bowled out for a paltry 106 in 32.4 overs, the Boys in Blue held their nerves and bundled out Bangladesh for 101 to clinch the title at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
