Buffer stock of pulses News
The government has created buffer stocks of 18 lakh tonnes of pulses so far and also decided to procure dals from farmers till April 22, Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said today.
Pulse prices have dropped by about 30 percent in the last one year and rates of chana dal are likely to fall on bumper production, the government said on Thursday.
The government on Wednesday increased the size of the buffer stock of pulses by five times to 8 lakh tonnes for this year as it seeks to sell lentils at a cheaper rate to give relief to consumers.
With pulses spiking to a record of up to Rs 200 per kg, the government on Friday decided to create 40,000 tonnes of buffer stock of pulses.
