Cinematograph Act News
The Cinematography Bill 2023 has been approved by the Modi cabinet. In this bill, there is a provision to prevent theft or piracy of content in films. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has given this information.
The amendments provide for inclusion of a new section for the prohibition of unauthorised recording of films screened in cinema halls.
This step will help our film industry in dealing with the menace of piracy, he said.
A plea to release A-rated movies without any cuts, has been started by Change.org to submit before the Shyam Benegal Committee on censorship.
National-award-winning actress Shabana Azmi says the censor board can work with a broader mindset provided the Cinematograph Act undergoes a revision. Recently, trailer of filmmaker Hansal Mehta's upcoming drama "Aligarh" was given an 'A' certificate by the board as the movie dealt with homosexuality.
