Cold day conditions are likely to prevail over J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and UP. Several parts of the national capital witnessed dense fog today. Delhi's air quality was recorded in the 'poor' category.

Dense fog engulfs Delhi, AQI improves to 'moderate' category
A thick layer of fog engulfed Delhi today morning, resulting in extremely reduced visibility. IMD had predicted cold to severe cold day conditions for some parts of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi and UP during the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature in the national capital dropped down to six degrees Celsius.

Dense fog conditions in the isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi is likely for the next two days. Himachal Pradesh is expected to receive heavy snowfall in the next 48 hours. IMD said there is a possibility of drizzle in Delhi on Friday and Saturday.

Cold wave grips Delhi, IMD predicts rainfall over northwest India today
New Delhi reported 11.8 degrees Celsius at around 2 am on Wednesday. Safdarjung centre in the national capital reported a minimum temperature of seven degrees, two degrees less than normal last night.

Cold wave conditions over northwest, central India to abate from Feb 2: IMD
Maximum temperatures are very likely to rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius over most parts of northwest and central India till February 2. Cold wave conditions in isolated pockets are very likely over Punjab, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan during next 24 hours and abate thereafter.

Cold wave to intensify in Delhi, northwest and central India: IMD
No rain predicted in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana till February 2 now as the western disturbance has moved further east. "Cold wave will intensify in Delhi after 26th January," said senior IMD scientist.
