Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi marks the beginning of the festival of lights Diwali. The auspicious day coincides with Trayodashi Tithi (Thirteenth) of the Krishna Paksha of the Hindu lunar month of Kartik. On Dhanteras day, Hindus also worship Dhanvantari.
