Preparations for India's Census 2027 are officially underway, MHA informed Lok Sabha. This landmark exercise will feature digital data collection, self-enumeration, and caste enumeration for the first time since 1931, conducted in two phases.

Till date census work in India used to be done manually which took a lot of time to complete. But from now onwards, the census will be done electronically.
