Foodgrain output is likely to touch a new record in the 2017-18 crop year to begin from July, on hopes of normal monsoon for the second straight year, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said on Monday.
India will "definitely" see higher foodgrain output and overall growth in the agriculture sector in case the IMD prediction of a good monsoon "comes true", Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said Tuesday.
The country had registered a record foodgrain production of 265.04 million tonnes in 2013-14 crop year (July-June). Wheat, rice, coarse cereals and pulses are part of foodgrain basket.
