Global population News
Today around 1:30 pm, 8000 millionth child was born in the world. The UN Report on Population had already estimated that on November 15, the world's population would touch 8 billion. But now the question is, is the increasing population a disaster or an opportunity?
As the world population clock flashed 8,00,00,00,000, the United Nations described the global population reaching the mark as a "remarkable milestone".
When the first World Population Day was observed in 1990, the global population stood at a little over five billion. Now, it's over half that, measuring at about 7.6 billion.
The world`s current population of 7.6 billion will balloon to 9.8 billion in 2050, with India`s numbers to surpass China`s in just seven years, a UN report said Wednesday.
By 2050 India will be the country with the world's largest Muslim population, as per a research.
In 2012, that number stood at 902 million, or about 13 percent of the world population.
A third of the global population is malnourished, a report said.
