There has been a major suicide bombing in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. According to local media, a loud explosion occurred in a busy area in the middle of Istanbul, killing at least four people. At the same time, there are reports of many people getting injured.

Ambulances rushed to the scene on the packed Istiklal Avenue, which police quickly cordoned off. The area falls in the city's Beyoglu district.

An explosion occurred in an area of Istanbul`s Sabiha Gokcen airport where airplanes were parked, wounding two cleaning staff on a nearby plane, but the cause of the blast was not clear, Pegasus airline said on Wednesday.
