The Taliban said on Monday that they had captured Panjshir province in Afghanistan. The province was the last home of anti-Taliban forces in the country. Whereas the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRFA) termed this claim as a lie and said that we will continue to fight till our last breath.
The Taliban claimed on Monday that Panjshir province, the last stronghold of anti-Taliban resistance forces in Afghanistan, has been "completely conquered", adding that the country is now finally out of the vortex of war and that it will now return to stability.
"I don't want to surrender to the Taliban ever," the former vice-president of Afghanistan said.
Taliban and resistance forces continued to fight for the Panjshir valley on Saturday.
The fight for the last Afghan province holding out against the Islamist group came amid the wait for announcement of a new govt.
The Taliban seized Kabul on August 15 after rapid advances across Afghanistan.

A representative of the main anti-Taliban opposition group said Taliban forces clash with Northern Alliance fighters in the Panjshir Valley, north of the Afghan capital Kabul, killing 115 Taliban, and taking 35 more Taliban hostage.
Fahim Dashty, spokesman for Ahmed Masood, who is leading the resistance movement against the Taliban, said seven-eight Taliban fighters were killed in a fighting in the Panjshir Valley on Monday night. Dashti said the Taliban attacked Panjshir on Monday night, where resistance forces are making a last stand against the organization in Afghanistan.
Panjshir is one of the last remaining hotbeds of resistance in Afghanistan.
Apart from mobile internet, calls and message services have also been disconnected.
On August 23, the Taliban had sent 3 thousand Taliban fighters to the border of Panjshir to capture the valley.
“There is no fight in Panjshir and no one has entered the province,” Ahmad Massoud’s supporter said.
The road leading to Panjshir has reportedly been blocked by the Taliban in the Gulbahar-Jabal Saraj area.
The talks between resistance front and Taliban have remained inconclusive.
Anti-Taliban forces have started preparations for war in Afghanistan. However, the Taliban also offered these forces to leave the confrontation and come to Kabul for talks, but the forces, rejecting the Taliban's talk, challenged the Taliban from a height of 15,000 feet and took down their cannons in the field.
