Saving Rs 7 everyday can give a pension of Rs 60,000.
On May 9, 2015, the Centre announced the Atal Pension Yojana, a major initiative for workers in the unorganised sector.
Nearly 4 crore people have signed up for the scheme so far.
Following the demonetisaion move, the Finance Ministry on Tuesday cleared all air about the used of old Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes in saving schemes stating they cannot be used for such deposits.
Interest on short-term post office saving deposits was Tuesday cut by 0.25 percent while the rate on employees' provident fund was increased marginally to 8.8 percent.
