Swamy said if the police and district authorities in Kannur are not doing their duty "then we have to think of some constitutional measures."

Former Haryana chief minister and Congress leader B S Hooda was today arrayed as a witness by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in support of his complaint filed against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi and others in the National Herald case.

Swamy's assertion came after a Delhi Court dismissed his plea seeking documents from the Congress Party in connection with this case.

Retorting to the loss of lives of jawans amid relentless ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Sunday said the provocative regression from the side of Islamabad shows that it has been taken over by its army.

"I am an economist. He is a lawyer. How can he be better than me?" Swamy, whose antagonism for Jaitley is open, said at an event here today.

Jaitley is reportedly upset that party top brass did not respond to Swamy's allegations against him.

Swamy's entry into the Congress-dominated Rajya Sabha “is being seen as a natural step forward” after his success in National Herald case.

"I will request the Centre to file a contempt petition against Chidambaram. If it does not file it, I will do so," Swamy told reporters here.

Sources said the file on the issue has been sent to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung for his approval.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said he was hopeful of the Muslim community accepting the court judgement and allowing work on the project to take off.
