All PMUY beneficiaries are eligible to avail of the targeted subsidy scheme.

PMUY has been widely praised as a successful social welfare scheme which has majorly contributed to increase in LPG penetration in the country from 62% in 2016 to near saturation now.

Starting from September 1, customers will be given LPG gas cylinder for an incredibly affordable price of just Rs 450 in the poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

The union cabinet approved Rs 1,650 crore subsidy for new LPG connection under Ujjwala scheme for providing 75 lakh new connections.

Many big decisions were taken today in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi. It has been decided to extend the Ujjwala Yojana for one year. This will benefit 9.6 crore mothers and sisters of the country. Under this scheme, 12 gas cylinders are distributed in a year. There is a subsidy benefit of Rs 200 on every cylinder.

Sitharaman also appreciated PM Modi's move of introducing several women as ministers during the recent Union Cabinet expansion. There are presently 11 women ministers in the Union Cabinet.
