Twelve young footballers and their coach rescued from a Thai cave will be released from hospital on Thursday, a health official said, offering psychological support and urging the group to avoid media interviews despite huge interest in their against-the-odds survival story.
The rescue operations culminated on Tuesday when the last four children and the coach were successfully taken out of the cave.
Witnesses saw medical personnel carrying a person, wrapped in green sheets and lying flat, into an ambulance close to the mouth of the cave.
"Today is the D-day. The boys are ready to face any challenges," rescue chief Narongsak Osottanakorn told reporters near the cave site.
"Not all traditions that we have are good," said Ade Sukalsah, a spokesman for provincial governor Ahmad Heryawan. "If a tradition has a bad influence and impact on people`s lives, the tradition must be eliminated or forgotten."
