With 16 institutes among the top 200 places for higher education, India is placed third on the latest list of Times Higher Education BRICS and Emerging Economies Rankings, after China and Taiwan.
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore broke India's poor ranking spell by making a debut in the world's top 100 universities for engineering and technology.
The rankings will be published during the first Times Higher Education and BRICS and Emerging Economies Universities Summit.
