Israel, Iran Accept Trump's Ceasefire Plan, Ending 12-Day Conflict

US President Donald Trump announced a "full and complete ceasefire" between Israel and Iran, ending 12 days of intense conflict. Trump praised the "win-win" agreement following retaliatory strikes, bringing a halt to the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel is in place, calling on both parties to respect the deal and marking the beginning of an end to the 12-day war that has shaken the Middle East. His statement came as reports of fatal attacks kept flowing in from both countries.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed Israel's agreement to Trump's ceasefire offer, explaining that Israel had effectively attained its main goal of eliminating Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile threats. Nevertheless, his office threatened forceful retaliation against any breach of the truce.

Before on Tuesday, President Trump categorically stated on Truth Social, "THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!"

The theatrical announcement came after the chaotic night witnessed retaliatory strikes. Iran fired a new batch of missiles at Israel, killing a minimum of four individuals in Beersheba, says Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance service. At the same time, Iranian officials confirmed nine deaths and 33 injured in a "terror attack" in the northern Gilan province on Tuesday morning. Although not expressly blamed on Israel by Iranian officials, Iran's Nournews cited the death of nuclear scientist Mohammadreza Sediqi in what it stated was an Israeli attack before the implementation of the ceasefire.

Trump's original announcement of a ceasefire on Monday had suggested some phased rollout, permitting current operations to proceed to their conclusion before complete hostilities ceased. This followed an acrimonious escalation since Sunday, when the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities, leading Iran's retaliatory missile attack on a US base at Qatar on Monday.

Witnesses in Israel have reported blasts close to Tel Aviv and Beersheba on Tuesday morning. Iran's semi-official SNN news agency reported that Tehran launched its last round of missiles just ahead of the ceasefire coming into force, with the Israeli military reporting six rounds of Iranian launches.

A White House senior official disclosed that Trump arranged the ceasefire agreement on a direct call with Prime Minister Netanyahu, with Israel agreeing provided that Iran would make no more attacks. "Assuming all goes as it should, which it will, I want to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be referred to, 'THE 12 DAY WAR'," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

An Iranian government official had previously confirmed the country's commitment to a ceasefire, though its foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, insisted that fighting would not end unless Israel suspended its "illegal aggression." Araqchi further commented on X that "The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later."
