Air India has received the first of 20 Airbus A350 wide-body aircrafts ordered, with the new livery marking another milestone in the transformation exercise.

The newest addition to Air India's fleet is an Airbus A350-900. The air carrier has ordered 20 of these planes, which will operate on international routes, adding numerous destinations to the operator's map.

Air India is the first operator in the country to add this widebody aircraft to its fleet. The airline has also ordered 20 Airbus A350-1000 jets, which can accommodate more passengers and boasts of longer range.

The first-ever A350 of India flew down to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport from Toulouse, France. During this delivery flight, it used a special call sign - AI350. Post delivery, it is assigned the 'VT-JRA' call sign.

The new Airbus A350-900 jet of Air India gets a total of 28 business-class seats, which will offer a flat-bed layout for a rather comfortable journey.
