The new rate of 22-carat gold dropped by Rs 350 per 10 grams to Rs 47,750. The price of 24-carat gold dropped Rs 370 to Rs Rs 52,100 from Rs 52,470. The 24-carat gold is 99.9 per cent pure.

In terms of value, the gold demand saw 23% growth during April-June quarter at Rs 32,810 crore. Internationally, gold slipped more than 1%, weighed down by a jump in the US Treasury yields and a rebound in the dollar, but bullion was still on course for its first weekly gain in three weeks.
