Aadhaar Authentication For IBPS Exams: This approval came after consultation with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and a final go-ahead from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). 

In April alone, almost 210 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions were carried out, nearly 8 per cent more than the same month in 2024, informed the ministry. 

The total number of authentication transactions in March 2025 (246.75 crore) is higher than the transactions clocked during the same period last year as well as in February 2025.

Aadhaar Authentication: The amendment enables both government and non-government entities to avail Aadhaar authentication service for providing various services in the public interest for related specific purposes like enablement of innovation, spread of knowledge, promoting ease of living of residents and enabling better access to services for them.  

The proposed amendment has been posted on the Ministry website and comments are being invited from the stakeholders and the general public. 

For a person opting for Aadhaar authentication for new GST registration would get it within just three working days. Applicants not opting for Aadhaar authentication for GST registration would be granted it only after physical verification. Businesses which will provide Aadhaar number while applying for registration under the Goods and Services Tax will get the approval in three working days.

Aadhaar authentication is being used as the primary identity verification mechanism by many systems such as banks, telecom companies, PDS, Income Tax Department etc.

UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey has tweeted that the new authentication measure will help all elderly or other facing issues with fingerprint authentication.

UIDAI allowed face recognition as additional means of Aadhaar authentication It will be used in combination with existing ways such as fingerprint or iris scan The facility will be available by July 1, 2018

The finance ministry on Monday said subscribers of the Atal Pension Yojna (APY) will have to link their Aadhaar to their accounts for availing up to Rs 1,000 government's co-contribution.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that all devices using Aadhaar authentication will have to adhere to its new encryption standards from June 1.  

UIDAI is expected to make it compulsory, in next 4-5 months, for all biometric devices using Aadhaar authentication to embed Aadhaar encryption key into the device at the time of manufacturing.
