Aadhaar-PAN linking News

The CBDT has extended the deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar to March 31, 2023. A fine of Rs 1,000 is also required to link Aadhaar and PAN. By June 30, 2022, a penalty of Rs 500 must be paid.

Previously, the deadline for linking Aadhaar and PAN before the latter became invalid was March 31, 2022. The PAN Card of assessees who have not informed about their Aadhaar would remain functional until March 31, 2023. Over 16.65 crore PANs, out of a total of about 33 crore, had been linked to Aadhaar as of March 5, 2022.

Furthermore, if your PAN is not linked to a bank account, you will be required to pay double TDS (Tax Deduction at Source). If your bank account is seeded with your PAN, you must pay a 10% TDS. According to Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, any individual who had a PAN on July 1, 2017 and was eligible for Aadhaar must link their PAN to their Aadhaar.

If you do not link your PAN card with your Aadhaar number within the specified time, your PAN card will become invalid, putting you in legal danger. Furthermore, you may be subject to a RS 1,000 fine.

One such vital link is the one between your PAN card and your bank account. UIDAI has created a number of services to ensure that an Indian person has as little trouble as possible while using their Aadhaar card information to access something. UIDAI website allows Aadhaar users to do a variety of tasks under one roof.

It is important to note that State Bank of India (SBI) customers must link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with their Aadhaar by September 30. The LPG cooking gas prices are going to increase in the month of September Axis Bank will implement the same from September 1 onwards.

In order to link PAN and Aadhaar cards, tax payers have to first register on the Income tax e-Filing portal.
