Islamist militant group Boko Haram has said it was behind Monday's twin suicide bombing at a university in north-eastern Nigeria which killed two people. 

Nigeria’s Air Force said it had killed some senior Boko Haram militants and believed it had fatally wounded the group`s leader in a raid on the Islamists` northeast heartland.

Boko Haram on Sunday released a video of the girls allegedly kidnapped from Chibok in April 2014, showing some who are still alive and claiming others died in air strikes.

Boko Haram`s elusive leader Abubakar Shekau said in an audio message Thursday he is still around despite his reported ouster as head of the Nigeria-based jihadist group by the Islamic State (IS).

Waldauser noted Shekau`s local focus and voiced concern about whether a splinter group might act more in concert with Islamic State`s transregional ambitions.
