The MNS led by Raj Thackeray had threatened to stall the release of the film after the IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association) urged its members not to engage with talent from the other side of the border following the Uri terror attack that killed 19 Indian soldiers.

The flick was in news lately for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan amid of the growing tensions between India and Pakistan. It also features Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Sidharth Malhotra says the controversy surrounding Karan Johar's directorial venture "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," which features his "Kapoor & Sons" co-star Fawad Khan, was "unfortunate".

Fadnavis had convened a meeting on Saturday which was attended by MNS President Raj Thackeray, Karan and Film and Television Producers Guild of India's President Mukesh Bhatt, among others at his official residence in Mumbai to resolve the imbroglio.

CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani says it is wrong to demand a proof of someone's patriotism. Director Karan Johar recently made a video appeal to those protesting the release of his directorial venture because it has Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. He said he was a patriot and wouldn't cast Pakistani artistes in future.
