Bandyopadhyay, a 1987-batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, was scheduled to retire on May 31 after completion of 60 years of age. However, he was granted a three-month extension following a nod from the Centre.
The Centre recalled the services of West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay.
The officer was directed to report in Delhi on Monday.
Alapan Bandyopadhyay is the new chief secretary of West Bengal, she replaced Rajiva Sinha who has been shifted to West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.
Apart from this, Banerjee also announced a couple of other changes at the bureaucratic level in the state.
The changes include the appointment of HK Dwivedi as new Home Secretary and Manoj Pant was given charge of Finance.
