The yet-untitled project went on floors in November 2021. The film marks the first collaboration between the 'Kabir Singh' star and Ali Abbas Zafar.

Tandav is a nine-episode political thriller made by Ali Abbas Zafar. It features A-listers Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, started streaming recently. Tandav premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

It remains unclear whether the police will also summon actor Saif Ali Khan and Amazon Prime Video India executives for inquiry. On Friday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed the makers of 'Tandav' to delete controversial scenes from the web series. This is the first time that any OTT project has been ordered to implement changes.

'Tandav' has become the first web-series which has been guided by the MIB to regulate its content. Although the central government is backing the move to form a separate self-regulatory board for OTT content. Another web-series 'A Suitable Boy' by Mira Nair irked many for hurting religious sentiments.

On Wednesday (January 20), the Bombay high court granted transit pre-arrest bail for three weeks to Zafar, Solanki and others regarding the FIR filed against them in Lucknow. Another FIR was lodged against five people including Zafar, Himanshu Mehra, Solanki, Aparna Purohit and Amit Aggarwal in Mumbai's Ghatkopar. Amid the ongoing controversy over the 'Tandava' web series, a team of Uttar Pradesh police arrived at the residence of Ali Abbas Zafar, the director of the web series, on Thursday to give notice in connection with a case registered against him in Lucknow.

An FIR was lodged against five people including director Ali Abbas Zafar, producer Himanshu Mehra,writer Gaurav Solanki, Aparna Purohit and Amit Aggarwal in Mumbai's Ghatkopar. ‘Tandav’ has been under fire for some days now with many BJP leaders demanding a ban on the series and regulation of OTT platforms. Ali Abbas Zafar released a new statement on Twitter. In this statement, he re-iterated that the cast and crew did not intend to hurt the sentiments of the viewers. He also thanked the Information and Broadcast Ministry for their guidance.
