An all-woman crew commanding the INSV Tarini returned to Goa on May 21, 2018, after successfully circumnavigating the globe in a 55-foot sailboat in more than eight months, the first-ever Indian expedition steered by women sailors.
INSV Tarini was led by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi. It had Lt Commanders Pratibha Jamwal and Swati P, and Lieutenants Aishwarya Boddapati, S Vijaya Devi and Payal Gupta as other members.
Covering the 2,100 nautical miles voyage from Goa to here, through rough seas whipped up by the Southwest Monsoon, in 20 days, this was the first voyage by an all-women crew on any Indian Navy vessel.
Indian Navy`s sailing vessel `Mhadei`, which set sail from Visakhapatnam after participating in the International Fleet Review, reached its home port on Tuesday with its all-women crew.
Mhadei will eventually return to Goa on 02 March.
