Delhi की एतिहासिक Ramlila Maidan में PM Modi ने कहा कि कुछ राजनीतिक दल Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) को लेकर अफवाहें फैला रहे हैं, लोगों की भावनाओं को भड़का रहे हैं. PM Modi ने कहा, 'आज जो ये लोग कागज-कागज, सर्टिफिकेट-सर्टिफिकेट के नाम पर मुस्लिमों को भ्रमित कर रहे हैं, उन्हें ये याद रखना चाहिए कि हमने गरीबों की भलाई के लिए योजनाओं के लाभार्थी चुनते समय कागजों की बंदिशें नहीं लगाईं.'

केंद्रीय मंत्री Nitin Gadkari ने Citizenship Amendment Act के समर्थन में बोलते कहा कि यह कानून मुसलमानों के खिलाफ नहीं है. Gadkari ने कहा कि यह CAA पड़ोसी मुल्कों के सताए गए अल्पसंख्यकों को नागरिकता देता है. उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि कि CAA पर विपक्ष राजनीति कर रहा है और लोगों के बीच भ्रम फैला रहा है.
