The filing of nomination for Thanjavur, Aravakurichi, Thiruparankundram Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu begins today.

In a first, the Election Commission on Saturday recommended cancelling polls to two Tamil Nadu Assembly seats - Aravakurichi and Thanjavur - following evidence of use of money to influence voters.
Orginally scheduled to be held on May 16, polling to the two segments was deferred till May 23 due to charges of bribing of voters.
CPI(M) State Secretary G Ramakrishnan said despite efforts of the Election Commission, "unprecedented money distribution has happened".
