Outgoing Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya made a strong case for reforms in bureaucracy, police and judiciary, saying these general legacy issues will have to be addressed for sustained growth in the long term.
Panagariya, who has been on leave from Columbia University to work at the Niti Aayog, said in his letter that his leave was due to expire on August 31 and it was not possible to extend it, a senior official said.
Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya resigned on Tuesday stating that he will return to academia. August 31 will be his last day in office.
