'Godman' Asaram was sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday in a rape case filed by his former disciple, the second such conviction after the 2013 Rajasthan minor girl rape case.
Gujarat's Gandhinagar court today announced the sentence of Asaram, the storyteller convicted in the rape case. Rapist Asaram will spend life in jail for raping a disciple. Today on Tuesday, the court has sentenced Asaram, convicted of rape, to life imprisonment.
Asaram has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2013 rape case. Two girls had filed a case against Asaram. Today the Gandhinagar Sessions Court gave its verdict on this matter.
This is the second time Asaram has filed a plea for bail. He was convicted in a rape case in March 2018 and was sentenced to life by Jodhpur Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Court.

The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up Rajasthan government for failing to take any action on the threats being given to witnesses by aides of self-styled religious figure Asaram Bapu, facing trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at his Jodhpur ashram.
A local court on Monday reserved its order on the bail plea of self-styled godman Asaram.
Asaram told media persons, “I'm also innocent and will walk free like Salman soon.”
