It was the 22-year-old Jannik Sinner’s first win in their four head-to-head meetings. It also ended Novak Djokovic's 19-match winning streak that stretched back to his five-set loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. 

Zverev defeated World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the semi-final. Zverev defeated World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in the final.

Novak Djokovic booked his spot in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals for the 10th-time by defeating Russian Andrey Rublev.

Daniil Medvedev became only the fourth player in ATP history to beat the world`s top three at the same tournament. Medvedev`s peers Alexander Zverev, 23, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, won the last two titles here but neither have gone on to claim a Grand Slam. The 27-year-old Russian's triumph came a year after a chastening three defeats on his debut.

The Russian's semi-final match against Rafael Nadal will take place in the early hours of Sunday (India time). Nadal leads their career head-to-head series 3-0, including a stunning comeback from 5-1 down in the third set of their clash at last year's ATP Finals. Medvedev became the first Russian to compete in the ATP Finals in consecutive years since 2009 title-winner Nikolay Davydenko (2005-09).

Novak Djokovic beat Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) to seal a last-four spot in the ATP Finals. Djokovic will finish second in the Tokyo Group, named after the first edition of the season-ending tournament 50 years ago. The 33-year-old Serb will face U.S. Open champion Dominic Thiem in Saturday`s semi-final.

As group runner-up behind Austrian Dominic Thiem, Nadal will face Daniil Medvedev for a place in the final. World No.1 Novak Djokovic plays Alexander Zverev on Friday with the winner to play Thiem in the other semi-final. Earlier in the day, Rublev beat Thiem 6-2 7-5 to end his maiden appearance on a high -- earning himself $153,000 for the group win.

Medvedev, who made only 12 unforced errors, lost all three of his group matches on his ATP Finals debut in London last year.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia will try to clinch the trophy for a record of six times at the ATP Finals. Diego Schwartzman earned his place in London's O2 Arena as Swiss maestro Roger Federer decided to skip the rest of the season with knee injury. This is the 50th anniversary of the ATP Finals, which was first held in 1970 in Tokyo.

By clinching the men`s world number one tennis ranking for the sixth time, Djokovic has equaled childood hero Pete Sampras' record. During the year, Djokovic won the ATP Cup in January before picking up a record-extending eight Australian Open Grand Slam in Melbourne. 33-year-old Djokovic, the winner of 17 Grand Slam titles, has mentioned that Roger Federer`s record of 310 weeks as No. 1 remains his target.

Greek fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the fourth round of the French Open on Saturday after his opponent Aljaz Bedene retired with an ankle injury while trailing 6-1, 6-2, 3-1. Tsitsipas hit 28 winners and broke the 56th-ranked Bedene`s serve five times before the 31-year-old decided he could no longer continue. In his fourth round, the Greek will play the winner of the match between Bulgarian 18th seed Grigor Dimitrov and Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain.

With the win, Tsitsipas became the youngest player to win the ATP Finals since former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt (20) in 2001 in Sydney.  

Tsitsipas will next lock horns with Austria's Dominic Thiem, who defeated Alexander Zverev of Germany 7-5, 6-3 to reach the final of the ATP Finals.   

Berdych clinched a total of 13 ATP Tour titles during his illustrious career, including the 2005 Rolex Paris Masters. 

Nadal had claimed the year-end top spot in the ATP rankings when Novak Djokovic slumped to 7-6 (4), 4-6, 5-7 defeat at the hands of Federer in a match that lasted over two hours and 52 minutes.  

 Federer will now lock horns with the Group Andre Agassi winner on Saturday in the semi-final of the tournament.

Djokovic, who is currently placed at the second spot in the ATP rankings, has to make it to the summit showdown of the tournament to stand a chance of ending the year at the numero-uno position for a sixth time.

For once world number one Nadal`s trademark fighting spirit seemed to have deserted him but he saved a match point at 1-5 with a superb drop shot and was suddenly re-energised.

Federer will now lock horns with Matteo Berrettini of Italy while Thiem will face Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic in next group clash.   

Serbian tennis maestro Novak Djokovic kicked off his quest for a record-equalling sixth Association for Tennis Professionals (ATP) Finals title with a comfortable straight sets victory over Italian debutant Matteo Berrettini in the Group Bjorn Borg opener on Sunday.
