A SIT has been formed to look into the entire sequence of events that took place at Delhi Tis Hazari court and based on its findings. 

Last week, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the names of Justice Maheshwari and Justice Khanna for elevation as judges of the apex court.

Justice Joseph was the third senior-most judge who was elevated to the Supreme Court on March 8, 2013.

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Saturday disagreed with a suggestion by the apex bar body to lift a 16-year-old ban on strikes by lawyers, wondering why there should be a strike at all.

  The election for Bihar State Bar Council will be held on March 27 and the process would begin tomorrow with filing of nomination papers, a top official of the Council said.

On Saturday, the Council had criticised the four senior-most judges of the apex court on a 'minor issue' of rostering.

The council has sought replies from lawmakers on whether they should be debarred from practice while they are serving as legislators.

The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has decided to take a decision on Thursday on the issue of errant advocates allegedly engaging in unruly behaviour like laying seige to court halls, taking out rallies and obstructing court work.
