Rati had worked in Basu Chatterjee's comedy "Shaukeen" (1982), which also starred Mithun Chakraborty, Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal. A year later, she worked again with Basu Chatterjee in the comedy, " Pasand Apni Apni", also starring Mithun.

Basu Chatterjee was a pioneer of the seventies movie world. Along with Hrishikesh Mukherjee, he ushered the small-to medium-budget entertainer of the era that highlighted the everyday stories of common people. 

No actor has defined Basu Chatterjee's brand of middle-of-the-road Bollywood entertainment as Amol Palekar. The late filmmaker and the actor were a hit actor duo that gave many memorable slice-of-life films like "Chhoti Si Baat", "Baton Baton Mein", "Rajnigandha" and "Chitchor"  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and offered his condolences. 

The legendary Hindi filmmaker Basu Chatterjee breathed his last on June 3, 2020. The 93-year-old auteur made some of the classics such as Rajnigandha, Chhoti Si Baat, Khatta Meetha, Baton Baton Mein, Shaukeen to name a few.

I am at a loss of words to hear about Vidya Sinha's demise, simply shocked beyond words. Till only the other day, I was watching her on the television show, "Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala". I was felt happy watching her on the show because our association is a really long one. I know her from the days of her first film, "Rajnigandha" (1974). Now, on hearing about her death, I am extremely sad and don't know how to react.
