The energy unit of Warren Buffett`s Berkshire Hathaway Inc is nearing a roughly $18 billion deal to acquire Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, people familiar with the matter said, three years after the utility`s parent entered bankruptcy.

Warren Buffett on Monday donated about $2.84 billion of Berkshire Hathaway Inc stock to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and four family charities, as part of the billionaire`s plan to give away nearly all of his wealth.

Shares of Kraft, known for its namesake macaroni and cheese in a box, as well as Velveeta, Maxwell House coffee and Oscar Mayer processed meats, closed up nearly 36 percent at $83.17.

Chinese automaker BYD Co Ltd , backed by Warren Buffett`s Berkshire Hathaway Inc , aims to triple its production of batteries as it takes on Tesla Motors in the race to supply electric vehicles and boost energy storage.
