PM Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 8, 2025, for development projects and Bhupen Hazarika's centenary. This follows his July 18, 2025, tour of Bihar and West Bengal, where he launched projects worth over Rs 12,200 crore.
Dr Bhupen Hazarika's birth anniversary: During his six-decade-long career, Hazarika won several prestigious prizes including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He was also honored posthumously with Bharat Ratna.
PM Modi addressed the students at the 18th convocation day of Tezpur University in Assam. In his address, PM Modi mentions the lines of Bhupen Hazarika Ji, who was honored with the pride of Assam and the Bharat Ratna, and he further said that "History of Tezpur still inspires youth".
Bhupen Hazarika was most popular in West Bengal and Bangladesh and was responsible for introducing the culture and folk music of Assam and Northeast India to Hindi cinema.
