Nitish Kumar has returned as the chief minister of Bihar for a record seventh time on Monday. He will head a 14-strong council of ministers including two deputy chief ministers.

Since the post of a Deputy CM is not a constitutional one, the two took oath as ministers and their posts would be notified by the cabinet in due course. JD(U) ministers included old hands like Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Ashok Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary besides new faces Mewa Lal Chaudhary and Sheela Kumari Mandal. Other than the two Deputy CMs, those from the BJP included Mangal Pandey who held the health portfolio in the previous government besides Amarendra Pratap Singh, Ramprit Paswan, Jibesh Kumar and Ram Surat Rai.

Nitish Kumar took oath as the new chief minister of Bihar on Monday. Nitish was first sworn in as CM in 2000.

The oath-taking ceremony is likely to see the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda.  

Kapil Sibal is one among the few Congress leaders who has criticised over the party's performance in the elections. Sibal has once again said that the party needs to introspect over its performances. In an interview with The Indian Express, Sibal once again slammed the Congress leadership.

RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari said the Congress was the weak link in 'Mahagathbandhan'. He blamed Congress for 'Mahagathbandan' defeat in Bihar poll. The Congress contested 70 of the 243 seats but managed to win only 19.

Nitish Kumar is scheduled to take oath as Bihar CM for the seventh time on Monday. It is expected that 16 to 17 ministers would also take oath with Nitish Kumar. While Nitish is set to take oath as CM, suspense is deepening over who will become the deputy CM.

Katihar MLA Tarkishore Prasad has been named the BJP legislature party leader and could be the next deputy CM. Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as the Chief Minister tomorrow. Also, Renu Devi could also be made the deputy CM in the NDA ministry, sources said.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Twitter announced that Tarkishore Prasad Singh has been unanimously elected as the leader of BJP.

NDA on Sunday unanimously elected Janata Dal-United chief Nitish Kumar as its leader. The formal election of Nitish Kumar as NDA leader means that he will be the next chief minister of Bihar. BJP leader Sushil Modi was elected as the deputy leader of the NDA.

RJD leader Manoj Jha on Saturday said that JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar is on a wafer-thin majority in Bihar. Jha added that Nitish he would not last long as chief minister of Bihar. Jha said that Nitish suppressed the mandate of the people by switching from the 'Mahagathbandhan' to the NDA.

With BJP intent on keeping Nitish Kumar at the helm, the oath-taking is likely to take place in the coming week.
