Federal Bank now offers biometric authentication for online card payments, allowing users to pay using fingerprint or face ID—no OTP needed. Available for its debit and credit card holders on select apps, the feature ensures faster and safer checkouts.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) authorities have so far been using OTP-based Aadhaar authentication to establish the identity of the applicants, seeking registration.
The company clarifies that all palm images captured through the new app are encrypted and transmitted to a secure Amazon One domain in the AWS cloud.
The users will now need to authenticate either with fingerprint or face ID on the desktop app before logging in.
This newly introduced feature will provide an additional layer of protection to account.
WhatsApp has stressed that it will not store or has access to the biometric data by design.
