BWF rankings News
In men's singles, Kidambi Srikanth climbed three places to enter the top 20 with world rank of 19 while Lakshya Sen jumped two places to be ranked 18.
Lakshya Sen finished runner-up in a strong field at the All England, beating defending champion Lee Zee Jia and world bronze medallist Anders Antonsen on the way to the final.
Lakshya Sen has risen remarkably over the last few months in the BWF rankings riding on his impressive performances at the world stage. He currently has 70,086 points in the men's singles list which is being headed by Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.
India's Lakshya Sen became World No.13 after winning the India Open title. Satwiksaijraj and Chirag also moved up to 8th place in the world rankings.
HS Prannoy's good run at the All England Championship saw him jump four places and regain his world No. 12 spot, while men's doubles combo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty broke into the top 20 in the latest BWF ranking on Thursday.
Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu is eyeing the world No. 1 position next season but said she will not lose sleep over rankings as consistent performances will automatically earn her the numero uno spot.
It is not for the first time though that Sindhu will claim this spot. She had struggled her way atop to script history as she became the second Indian woman shuttler after Saina Nehwal to break into the top 5 of the singles ranking chart.
Srikanth's earnings are more than double of those of Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei, who trails at second place with $71,300, while China’s Lin Dan is third with $69,795.
Saina, who also lost in the first round of the Malaysia Open, however, lost a place to be at ninth position in the ranking table with 64279 points.
In men's singles, Ajay Jayaram jumped four places to reach the 19th spot, while H S Prannoy also improved two spots to climb to the 25th place.
Saina`s city-mate PV Sindhu retained her 10th spot in women`s singles.
The Guntur-born Srikanth hasn't been in form of late, having suffered early exits in recent tournaments.
