 Domestic passenger vehicle sales grew 2.68 per cent to 2,23,454 units in June from 2,17,620 units in the same month last year.

Passenger car shipments from India declined 3.71 percent to 4,84,602 units in April-February period of this fiscal due to challenges in top export markets like Algeria, Europe and neighbouring countries.

British car exports to China have increased seven-fold since 2009, according to figures released Thursday by a British industry body, driven by a demand for luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce and Jaguar.

Up against road blocks in the traditional export markets, overseas shipments of passenger cars declined by 2.65 percent last year to 5,47,087 units.

India's ambitious plan to become a global hub for small car exports has taken a hit due to falling shipments to Europe, while unfavourable environment in the neighbourhood has led to lost opportunities to the tune of USD 2 billion.

The company will start exporting the left hand drive version of Chevrolet Beat to Chile in the second half of this year.
