Cassini flyby News
Using data from Cassini mission, scientists including those from University College London (UCL) in the UK, identified negatively charged molecules called 'carbon chain anions' in the atmosphere of Titan.
These features are informally known as the “magic island” and are “a phenomenon that change over time,” according to Cassini scientists.
Titan's image was taken with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on July 25, 2015 using a spectral filter sensitive to wavelengths of near-infrared light centered at 938 nanometers.
Cassini is the first spacecraft to orbit Saturn, and it has been circling the planet since 2004.
