The miscreants fled away from the spot taking advantage of dense fog and darkness of night.

BSF on June 6 said that some of its troops were assaulted by cattle smugglers. The incident took place along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Bengal's Dakshin Dinajpur district on Saturday night.

The incident occurred near Tumaula village under Kosikalan police station in Mathura district The villagers intercepted a mini-truck carrying six cows and passing by their village road The man killed in the attack was identified as Shera, a resident of Arnia village in Bulandshahr district

Kumar was questioned for several hours at the CBI office in Kolkata on Tuesday. He was later arrested by the agency in the evening. Charges slapped against Kumar are 120B IPC and Section 7, 11 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The searches were conducted across 13 locations in Kolkata and Murshidabad in West Bengal, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Amritsar in Punjab and Raipur in Chhattisgarh in connection with a cattle smuggling case on the Indo-Bangla border. The CBI had registered a case on September 21, 2020, against the then BSF commandant of 36 Battalion of BSF - Satish Kumar. Besides Kumar, three others - Md Enamul Haq, Anarul Sheikh and Mohammed Golam Mustafa were also booked. The preliminary enquiry conducted by the CBI revealed that during Kumar’s tenure as Commandant of 36 Battalion in Malda district of West Bengal between December 2015 and April 2017, more than 20,000 cattle were seized during a smuggling bid.
