Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the CET for government jobs recruitment is likely to be held around September this year
National Recruitment Agency (NRA) for conducting the CET has been constituted with the approval of the Union Cabinet
The first such test is likely to be held in the later part of 2021
NRA will conduct CET to shortlist candidates for jobs in Government sector for which recruitment is presently carried out through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
It will conduct only preliminary screening of candidates and the final recruitment will be done through domain-specific tests to be conducted by respective agencies namely SSC, RRBs and IBPS.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday asserted that 1000 centres will be set up in 700 districts of the country for holding the CET under the NRA.
Speaking exclusively to Zee News, the Union Minister said, "A centre will be made in every district. There are 700 districts in India, so there will be 1,000 centres."
"Women will be relaxed because many families avoided sending girls to far-flung areas," he added.
There is a proposal to set up National Recruitment Agency to conduct CET while the test scores to be valid for three years.
As of now, aspirants appear for multiple examinations conducted by different agencies at different points of time, for similar posts demanding similar eligibility criteria which places an enormous burden of cost and time.
