Customs officials seized a total of 3.72kg of 24K purity gold, valued at Rs.1.97 crore, from Dubai and Sharjah returnees. The chocolate wrapper contained a plastic packet with 660 grams of gold paste. A passenger of Fly Dubai Flight FZ8517 was intercepted at exit and frisked.

Air Customs officials caught five passengers trying to smuggle gold. A total of 1.7 kg gold was recovered of 24k purity. The gold valued at Rs 87.62 lakhs was seized under the Customs Act.

On frisking, three bundles wrapped with black adhesive tape were recovered from his underwear. 

On Wednesday, based on intelligence, a passenger who had arrived from Dubai by Emirates Airlines flight EK544 was intercepted at the exit and frisked. Two plastic pouches of gold paste were found stitched inside his brief and 412 grams of 24K gold, worth Rs. 21.4 lakh was recovered. One gold bangle weighing 98 grams valued at Rs. 5 lakh was also recovered from his trouser pocket. On searching his handbag, five drones and two iPhones 11 valued at Rs 5.6 lakh were also recovered.
