Child Labour Bill News
The UN Children's Fund has voiced concern over the amended Child Labour Bill in India, saying it could legitimise family work and further disadvantage children from poor families.
The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2016, despite opposition by several MPs protesting against provisions that allow a child to help out in family enterprises after school hours.
The government on Saturday said that a total of 12 bills including the Aadhar Bill, Whistle Blower Protection Bill, Child Labour Bill and Real Estate Bill are proposed to be taken up in parliament next week.
BBA has recommended that Child labour should be clearly defined in law as per the definition given by the Delhi High Court in BBA's case and extended for the entire country.
