Of the new cases, 134 were from Daegu city, where a branch of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has been linked to outbreaks, is located, the Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (KCDC) said.
The central province of Hubei, the epicentre of the outbreak, reported 115 new deaths, while in the provincial capital of Wuhan, 99 people have died due to the epidemic.
The COVID-19 virus, which is believed to have originated in Wuhan late last year, has spread to more than 72,000 people and killed 1,900 in China.
Over 9,400 patients have been discharged since the epidemic began while nearly 530,000 people who had been in close contact with the infected were followed up, with around 30 percent of these still under observation.
At least 1,523 people have now died from the outbreak that first emerged in Hubei's capital, Wuhan.
