China will launch the world`s fastest train in September which will shorten the travel time between Beijing and Shanghai by more than an hour, authorities said on Monday.

The trains can touch a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Currently, China's high-speed trains clocks around 280 kmph.

China, which has the longest high-speed railway network in the world at over 19,000 km, plans to increase it to 30,000 km by 2020, a top official has said.
