Chief Minister K Palaniswami had announced in the state Assembly in March, expanding the scheme across the state following requests from various quarters Accordingly, the government expanded the scheme by adding another 3501 mobile fair price shops at a cost of Rsn9.66 crore to benefit a little over 5.37 lakh ration card holders in all 37 districts of the state, it said Palaniswami flagged off seven mobile fair price shops on Monday to mark the symbolic rollout of the scheme

Tamil Nadu today witnessed 25 new COVID-19 cases confirmed cases and the total tally of infected people rises to 1267, according to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami. 

Harnessing the power of social media, Palaniswami seems to have struck a personal chord with citizens-cum- netizens, not only interacting with them but ensuring redressal of their grievances.

Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami launched district wise helpline numbers to help farmers sell their produce, sort out transport, pass and storage issues. He also waived off cold storage fees for fruits and vegetables till 30th April, ahead of mango harvest.

Palaniswami also said that the payment of property tax, water charges, farm loan instalments to cooperatives, housing loan instalments to cooperatives, Tamil Nadu Housing Board, loan instalments to fishery and handloom cooperatives had been deferred.

Palaniswami said there was no need for panic and assured his government was working in full swing to implement the preventive measures.

The health scheme will be implemented with funding support from the World Bank.
