Officers concerned from various departments including those from the finance ministry will be part of the rehearsal event, they said.  

Around 81,500 companies from the city have already migrated to the GST portal so far and the service tax department is hopeful that the remaining ones will be doing so by the April 30 deadline.

The Finance Ministry will soon move the Cabinet with changes in the GST Constitutional Amendment Bill providing for full compensation to states for first five years of roll out of the new indirect tax regime.

Congress on Tuesday said it was all for the passage of the long-pending GST bill if concerns of the party and some others are addressed ahead of Monsoon session of Parliament.

With the government hopeful of passing Constitutional amendment bill on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the forthcoming Parliament session, traders are opposed to it, saying that in the current form, it is more complex and needs to be simplified.

The Committee is in the process of discussing and arriving at consensus on large number of issues of GST, he said.

There is a broad consensus on GST and a Constitutional Amendment Bill for the proposed indirect tax regime would be taken up in Parliament for consideration and passage in the next few weeks, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Monday.

With states on board, the Cabinet is now likely to approve the Constitutional Amendment Bill on GST Wednesday, paving the way for tabling of the the new legislation in the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
